    The man behind the Foundation

    President of the Ronald-Denis Foundation, former Head of the department of surgery and Director of the traumatology program of the CIUSSS du Nord de l’Île de Montréal (CIUSSS-NÎM) Doctor Ronald Denis is committed, first and foremost, to caring for his patient His foundation allows him to use his knowledge and skills servicing people’s health.

    During his career, Dr. Denis has carried out major projects related to medical and social causes, always guided by the desire to improve the health and well-being of his patients and to make the health system more efficient.

    A Pioneer in Traumatology

    Dr. Denis has been an innovative builder in the domain of traumatology. As Director of the HSCM Traumatology Program, he was the first to set up, in 1988, a tertiary traumatology program based on interdisciplinarity He was at the heart of efforts to raise more than $10 million to establish the HSCM’s Integrated Trauma Center.

    A champion of metabolic and bariatric surgery

    A specialist in bariatric surgery, Dr. Dr. Denis is particularly concerned by the extent of the problems linked to obesity and the metabolic consequences on the health and well-being of these patients.

    A surgeon of action

    Former Head of the Department of Surgery at HSCM for fourth terms, Dr Denis was very concerned by the lack of access to outpatient surgeries and the long wait times for patients. To alleviate these problems, in 2007 he made an agreement with the RocklandMD Surgical Center that has reduced HSCM wait times and allowed surgeries on more than 10,000 patients in five years, more specifically in delicate areas such as breast cancer.

    A supporter of high medical technology

    Dr. Denis believes that in the context of outpatient surgery and so-called minimally invasive surgery, the use of new technologies is essential to improve the quality of care received by patients. He was the instigator in 2003 of the purchase of the first Da Vinci surgical robot by the HSCM.
